Mahabs & Covelong - A perfect getaway near Chennai

Mahabs, the place of historical reminiscence, it was one major Indian port at British days and before. 

It's is a small monumental town, a few famous places are Shore temple, 5 Rathas, Krishna’s butter ball, the rock carvings & small cave near light house and tiger cave. Each one has its own structural beauty and details. Along with these, the beach near the shore temple is good and the rocky terrain is really good for sunrise & meditation. Worth Visiting! 

Near by mahabs there are lots of resorts you can check in, if you want to opt to stay. They are good. And around ~15 kms enroute to Chennai, one can see Crocodile bank, a few kms from there will take you to Covelong. My personal favorite beach & I will rate this as the best beach in Chennai to swim. 

The sandy patches allow you to walk a bit inside and gives you quiet enough space for swimming even for newbies. 

On the shores of Covelong is a wonderful cafe know as Surf Turf, which hosts surfing, and kayaking too, and inside the same premises is the Barefoot scuba.

The cafe spot is scenic & wonderful, one can sit here for hours staring at the magical sea. The offer a few varieties of food and drinks & peaceful ambience. Anyone who needs peace of mind & sea lovers will love this place! I promise you that!
