It is a beautiful spot worth spending time during weekend. If you love to spend time in boating in back waters / lake and sitting / bathing on sea, this is the place you must visit.
It is approximately 65 kms from the busy Chennai. You literally visualize the contrast of the city. It is a sort of a small area, may be few Sq kms with few shops, houses and a light house.
The area host mainly boating to islands which are present in the lake and it is a way of income for the people over there other than fishing and grocery business. The lake encompasses the Pulicat Lake Bird Sanctuary.[Src: Wikipedia] and a fort.
It has off-road connectivity from athipattu via L & T ship construction yard. Journey through that to pulicat or from pulicat is awesome. You will be riding along sea on one side and lake on the other side.
